Frame1968 Mercian track, appears to be a 'Professional' model going by the frame dimensions, prugnat lugs, long point reinforced bottom bracket shell etc. Frame No-68351, 1968 (1st year of manufacture I believe for the 'Professional'). 23" seat tube; The 23" frame/forks feature original chrome & graphics with Campagnolo dropouts, wrapover seat cluster with allen head fastening and a typical twin plate fork crown drilled with provision for a front brake. 39" wheelbase, 16" chainstays, 11" bottom bracket height.
WheelsThe 700c sprint wheels are ex-Tony Doyle featuring Campag Record hubs, Mavic Argentino rims, chrome db spokes tied & soldered, Schwalbe Stelvio dual compound tubs. Wheels due to be replaced with period 'Nisi' rims and more suitable gearing is also on the list of jobs.
ChainsetStronglight 49D short 165mm track cranks, TA 59t chainring,Campag b/b axle & cups,
PedalsLyotard Berthet platform pedals, Christophe Special toe clips with Alfredo Binda straps
GearsSingle-speed fixed
BrakesN/A
Stem/BarsI believe the bars (alloy) are Bailey track drops and the dropped extension (steel) is Reynolds 531 but make unknown
SaddleIdeale Competition TD90 saddle with duralumin alloy undercarriage and saddle support
Extra detailsRides well, ultra responsive and although not a concours example it is very original
