Acquired fifteen years ago from a fellow V-CC member after many months of persuasion, I had it repainted by Argos, from a ‘holding’ enamel in plain red applied to preserve the exquisite condition of the tubing – without blemish. (I wouldn’t have been able to have afforded such treatment at today’s prices). This particular member collected pristine frames by bespoke builders and squirrelled them away in his loft never to see the light of day!

Over many years I have owned and ridden just about every quality built maker including all the unorthodox models built. I consider (subjective, I appreciate), that Les Ephgrave- built top-of-the-range models were the ‘creme de la creme’ of bespoke builders. I liken them to the Alvis and Bristol of the classic car world, not just because of the lug cutting but all the finer details of finishing, feathering and detailing.

This was the first of a few No 1’s and Supers that I have owned over the years but this is the best condition and in my perfect size, hence my desire to purchase it way back in 1995.
