Hetchins Experto Crede - 1959
Owned by: Ron Staffe
| Frame |
Experto Crede, 1959, curly stays, frame no.
H27537, seat
tube 24'', top tube 22.5'' built by Stan Broom. I bought the
frame just as a frame, later acquiring the forks from Keith Hellon.
Keith told me that they had come from a 60s Vade Mecum. I had the frame
and forks resprayed at Bob Jacksons at Leeds, with the steerer tube
modified to
fit.I personally painted the headbadge which took hours, using 00
brushes and a magnifier.

I bought the
wheels well before I acquired the frame from a chap who asked
me if I had heard of a certain Mr Jack Denny. I replied that he was the
master framebuilder at Hetchins, partner of Harry and Alf. He told me
that Jack was a family friend and that he had built these wheels in
1975. There is no way of authenticating this, however if it is true, it
is fitting for them to end up back on a Hetchins.
