After
I had purchased it, a phone call to Ellis Briggs revealed that it was
made in March 1969 and was originally supplied to the 1960's and 1970's
24-hour time trial champion Nim Carline, though I have found various
pictures of Nim riding an Ellis Briggs I have yet to come across one of
him on this machine. Nim Carline owned a rhubarb farm in
Yorkshire and employed the womens champion Beryl Burton as well as
acting as her mentor for many years. Beryl was unofficially sponsored
by Ron Kitching which may account for the amount of Kitching components
and frame parts on this machine.
