Macleans Super Eclipse 1956Owned by Peter Underwood
Above: Drive chain with Chater-Lea 'early' 2-arm fluted cranks, 48T chainring and Chater-Lea pedals with Christophe clips and Binda straps Copy of the Macleans catalogue used by J Hawes to purchase this machine listed under Catalogues. The 1956 catalogue lists the Eclipse but there is no mention of Super Eclipse - the invoice however is specific that the machine is Super Eclipse and the price was more than that for the Eclipse (taking account of the extra for the paintwork). First year's premium £1 5s. John Hawes occupation was given as artist and the value of the cycle as £45 |
